I had grand plans to lay out the economic case for owning a camera in today's modern world but it devolved pretty quickly into me rambling on for 40 minutes about the ups and downs of owning gear in general.
The business side of cinematography (really filmmaking in general) is a grossly underserved area of exploration but this podcast barely scratches the surface.
Hopefully I can organize the survey episode again this year and we can start to chip away at some of the mystery even further.

I told you a new course was coming and it's finally here.
It has been awesome hearing feedback from everyone that has already sped through the content and I am excited it has been as well received as it has.
In the new course I introduce my method for approaching cinematography from the most basic level and lay out each decision along the way. When I think about the work I break every possible scenario into one of 5 buckets and go from there.
Doing so allows me to focus more time on what I can do and less on what is not as effective. In this latest course we go over one of these 5 scenarios and I explain how I use a system to allow me to deliver the best results.
