On the podcast this week we sit down with cinematographer Jon Bregel.
Jon has an incredible story and rather than focus on the day to day work or how he likes to create the images he is know for this show is much more on things off set.
Life off set hasn't bee a topic we have covered much on the show but after hearing Jon's first podcast on his own show I wanted to have him on to share his experience.
If you haven't checked out the Episode #1 of the Variable podcast I highly suggest you give it a listen before continuing with this one. It's definitely worth the effort.
A Cinematography System: The Playbook Approach - Volume II
The latest course is live and I couldn't be more excited to get this content out in to the world and start getting feedback on the system.
The course continues the exploration of my own system for blocking and coverage that I call the BODVO system. I use it on every single scene I shoot but I haven't shared it in great detail here on the podcast because it can get so complex.
This particular course is Volume II and it centers on the most common scenario which is the Office Scenario. The name office has nothing to do with the physical location of the scene but rather the orientation of the characters relative to one another.
Once you see the system, you can't unsee it.
Nothing has improved my cinematography more than leaning in to this methodology and so far the feedback has been nothing short of amazing.

Patreon Breakdown - Alice in Borderland
This week over on Patreon we are looking at an episode of the first season of Alice in Borderland shot by Taro Kawazu.
This show certainly has a different feel to it vs. the usual things we break down and we look at how the story trumps the framework and what the final results look like. It is nice to have go to methodology for specific circumstances but sometimes you have to break out of those patterns to deliver the goods.
