We are honoured to have back on the show for the second time cinematographer Charlie Sarroff.

He is back on to discuss his latest work on the smash hit Smile.  The movie crushed the box office and we were lucky enough to get Charlie to jump on and chat about what is was like putting it all together.

If you want to go back and listen to the first time Charlie came on you can listen to that episode here:

Advanced Cinematography: Location Lighting

New course, who dis?

In the new course I introduce my method for approaching cinematography from the most basic level and lay out each decision along the way.  When I think about the work I break every possible scenario into one of 5 buckets and go from there.

Doing so allows me to focus more time on what I can do and less on what is not as effective.  In this latest course we go over one of these 5 scenarios and I explain how I use a system to allow me to deliver the best results.

If you are interested in seeing the evolution of my approach to cinematography I highly suggest you check it out:

Patreon Breakdown - McFarland, USA

We are dipping the Patreon Breakdown toes into the cool waters of McFarland, USA this week shot by one of my personal favorites Adam Arkapaw.

It is fun to examine because the material doesn't immediately jump out as something I'd associate with strong looks or impressive cinematography but I really enjoyed the final outcome.
